Transformation

In one of my first visits to Phoenix, Arizona, I drove through the I-10/I-40 interchange that was under
construction. Surrounded by support pillars with no highway on top, I felt like I was in the middle of
a modern day Stonehenge. This artwork is the result of that experience. It refers to the transformation
of the earth by human endeavors, the transform of energy from one form to another, and the human quest to
understand the cosmos.
