In September 2002, the members of the Phoenix Gallery in New York created a
9/11 Remembered exhibition.
The gallery was very close to ground zero, and the artists felt a great need to express their recollection of the tragedy by
collaborating in the building of two memorial towers. Each artist created an artwork with a wooden box open at one end.
Twenty boxes in all were stacked in two towers.
In Memoriam was my contribution to the 9/11 Remembered exhibition.
It sat at the top of one of the towers.
I have now made it into a sculpture in its own right.
It is more important now than ever to place this urgent call for peace on my web site. Peace is not accomplished by going
to war. War only breeds retaliation. In the long run, peace is only accomplished by addressing the causes of war and making
a world where war is not necessary.
